Hi! The new NSFW patch isn't working for me in the any of their routes at all with the 1.1 update. I've followed the instructions, re-downloaded the game a few times, and restarted the route, but 18+ scenes still aren't showing up. Help?
It's been 2 months and I'm still having the same problem and haven't gotten any response. It seems like this was a problem for other people but something got figured out for them?

Sentimental Trickster (ST) has a lot of great aspects going for it, but there are some things that are a little iffy. Let's start with the positives!
First, I was blown away by the depth of subject matter and emotional vulnerability. I actually cried when Haru had *that talk* (no spoilers?) with his mom outside the house. It was exactly the kind of reaction from your mom that you'd would hope for when having *that talk.*
Similarly, the story line and subject matter with "Mr. Teacher" was surprisingly intense and emotionally raw. Again, I was really pleased with how well the writers and developers handled such sensitive topics, especially with an 18+ game. Usually story and character development don't get priority when 18+ scenes are involved, but that's not the case with ST.
Now, onto the iffy things... Unfortunately, ST fell victim to what many visual novels fall victim too: a very unrealistic development of love. What I mean with that is Haru becomes SO in love with these men he's only known for a number of weeks, and nothing really ever happens that would explain why he fell in love so quick and intensely. Specifically, after several weeks of enduring all the dangerously toxic behavior from "Mr. Photographer," Haru was still SO in love, and it's just wildly unrealistic.
It's hard to ignore when Haru is making these super irrational decisions with nothing to justify or explain why he feels that way, BUT 80% of visual novels have this issue, so it's not a make or break situation.
All in all, I think ST delivered a very solid visual novel, especially considering it's 18+. 4/5 stars!
I really liked this game and the patch for steam worked without issues first try, I was just wondering how to get some CGs I'm missing, are those for bad endings?

Hi, I noticed there's a voice volume option in the settings but so far I haven't heard any of the characters speak, maybe I accidentally deleted something?
Can someone point me to the right to direction to enter Jin's route? I put the patch in my game files (I'm sure it's the right location cos the xxx CGS for the other couples still work) and even opened it with note pad so I know the jin route lines are in there but I can't find any options to enter his route. I even followed a guide but when it comes to the phone convo with the mom where you "choose" a lover I only get soichiro, kanae or shinya and if I ignore it it just goes into Soichiro's route. Did I update my game wrong or something (all I did was put the patch in) or am I missing anything?
Very excited to play Jin's route, but I think I'm going to wait a little bit--compared to the "general" part of the game and other routes, the coding is a bit bare-bones. Expression changes/emotions will be mentioned in the narration (ie: I blushed/was shocked/etc.) or dialogue will indicate a change of emotion/state, but the on-screen sprites don't change, and there's a glaring lack of music/background noise. So, while I'm sure the route is playable and enjoyable, I think I'll wait until it's been polished a bit more so it's even MORE enjoyable 😉.
But thank you to the creator for making this incredible game, words cannot express how much I love Haru and his sass and sarcasm, and I really respect him as a character/person! Also, your humor is on-point, and I appreciate how you handle heavy topics. This is a very well-done game on the whole, and I'll be replaying it lots in the future, I'm sure ❤
I've finished Jin's route and I'm 100% in love with it. There's a maturity with his route that I felt even Soichiro's lacked, not that that route was any less serious. I don't know, Jin's route just hit different because he wasn't in the closet, he came with his own baggage but he overcame it more or less on his own, with slight nudging from Haru.
Ayumi was a sarcastic sweetie pie and I adore her. The grandpa needs to go, with his judgemental self.
Plus, that smut scene though? *chef's kiss* J'adore. Pfft jkjk, it was really neat and again, it felt more mature. The lead-up and how careful Jin was with Haru, that's how ya first time should be with the person you love.
in Harus and Kanes love scene, when they speak just after its a little confusing, the wording is wired. it feels like the first part should be Kanes, but changed to "Wouldn't want you" and then Haru would be the speaking right after. Don't want to hate on the game or anything, Like it a lot. That part was just so confusing for me.

Sometimes the texst seem to indicate that something is being said, but there is nether name or "" signs pressent. So then your left with...wait was that said outloud or did the chacracters just get super powers.
Hey, think the backgrounds are a little off in Shinyas route, at a lot of difrent moments, the background seems to be of the wrong place. Don't want to go into to much detail, so that I don't spoil, but it have been a little confusing to have the chracters talk in one place and then suddely see another place mid conversation, or having a chracter going to one place but that place being the wrong place and being confused that the text doesn't match it.
I have very important question: how, for the love of god, I can got Shinya happy ending? I broke my head over it, tried many variations but couldn't get it.
Just finished Soichiro's route and honestly I was really impressed. I think the story was handled very well and I really grew to care for him and Haru too. It really made me excited to see the other two routes we have so far
Okay, without going into full in-depth spoilers, I'll say that Kanae's route took me aback. There were definitely plot twists and a serious heavy moment in there I didn't foresee but it was handled deftly, carefully, and I have no complaints honestly.
This is a game that I would say doesn't have a 'bad' end (maybe) unless you're steering it towards that direction deliberately. It's definitely choice-heavy at key moments. For now, I rate it 8.5.
Edit: I've also finished Soichiro's route and I'm currently trying to get Shinya's but it's a struggle. xD
Hello! I just bought the game as well and downloaded directly from itch.io without using the app. When I try to install the nsfw patch, both in the main folder or inside the game folder, it does not look like it works as there are no adult scenes in the whole game. How is that possible?
Okay, I'm about to play this game but I can't add the nsfw patch via the itch app? My computer is a windows 10 desktop with almost 1 TB of space. I click the gear icon on the itch app and it says the game title at the top as well as SentimentalTrickster 1.0 Win zip. I click on that file and it doesn't show that the app is even located in the itch app like all the other installed apps on my desktop.
How do I add the patch if the game isn't appearing in the correct file?
The itch app ‘unzips’ the game folders for us. Gone are the days of manual downloads then adding patch/DLC that way. 🤣
I’m kidding I’m kidding. By 1:48 am, the Sentimental Trickster folder, unzipped, had appeared in the correct location. There was a potential update made to the game idk. I add the patch file to the folder labeled ‘game’ and while I’m not completely finished with all routes, I’m nearing the end of Kanae’s and will keep you in the loop if it works or not.
Sorry to be a bother, but how will I know if the patch works? I've tried adding it to the game a few times and I keep getting a notification saying "I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred". Does that mean the patch didn't work and I won't be able to access the extra content?
No, it happens when I try to bring the patch into the game file. I'll drag the patch to the game file, and suddenly a white screen with those words come up:

I replaced my actual name with the 'MYNAME', for privacy sake btw. There is more as well, such as a 'Full Traceback'. The game itself functions fine for the most part, but I don't know if that patch is actually going in or if nothing has changed with the game. I've been playing on of the routes for a little while, and so far I haven't seen anything that would suggest NSFW content.
I see, I'll try playing the game to see if the content transferred after all. If it doesn't work I'll look into how my laptop might be the problem. Thank ya for your time
I simply put this patch in the "game" folder in a zip file (Windows Itch version), but when I started the game and finished a few routes, there is no NSFW stuff at all. Like the patch isn't working. Then I restarted computer and tried again and still nothing. The game is working, but it's 13+ version, not 18+.

We are releasing with 3 routes initially, and will add the Jin route at no extra cost some time in 2022 or before that. Justyna needed more time with this final route. Work on the Jin route has been going very well, so I predict a much earlier release for it.
We had a problem with adult scenes in the game due to child characters be present. Steam would not make our store page live due to their concerns about children being in an adult game. Some early versions of the sprites also looked very young, but they were all updated since then.
We had to remove all adult content to get approval from Steam for our store page and game launch, but don't worry, you will still be able to access them in both versions of the game.
Rather than adding significant extra development time to create two versions of the game, we chose to solve this with a free and easy to install adult patch for both Itch and Steam. This will become available shortly after the release. Check here in the comments for information about that. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we assure you it will be minor.

First of all, I wanted to apologize for making you wait so long for the game. My health problems and death of a family member caused me to become hospitalized, deeply depressed and simply unable to finish.
Fortunately, Y Press took over. I've recently felt much better and finally gave them everything they need to finish Sentimental Trickster, so please be patient for a little while longer. I know I'm asking for a lot, but I promise everyone will get their KS reward and itch preorder as promised. As for the refunds, sadly I'm not able to deliver them as all the funds were spent on game assets such as graphics, writing and initial programming.
I have been trying to reach out on Kickstarter. I was backer and got a steam code. I wanted a itch.io version. I have been messaging the Kickstarter since May. I would appreciate any help I could get. Thank you
Wow. I found the demo of and gave it a run (forgot all about it before) and wondered if the full game was out yet (also look up the Patreon and saw it's light on updates).
I'm shocked that A: Another studio had to step in (well not 'had' but did) B: Shocked it's now being finished by Y Press Games (own a few of there games and kicked started 3 others). C: The game was on hold (and after looking at the Kickstarter page, one person was happy to never get the game but now pissed another team will finish it) should be out sometime by the middle of the year (with luck).
Going to keep an eye out for it and buy it some time after it's released.
So the game will be released eventually but not on itch.io and there is no way to get a refund since emails send to the person who took our money are left unanswered. I can understand health issues and not being able to finish the game, but in that case refunds should have been automatic. It's ridiculous that we even have to ask for refunds. Nevertheless, even if you ask, you will not get your money back. You can only buy the game AGAIN from someone else. Great.
Y Press Games took over this game on the condition that Justyna would finish writing the script and provide all line art. We finally got these materials on December 31st, 2020. We now have what we need to finish making the game for her.
We're working hard on getting it out as soon as possible. Our firm date is June of this year, though we're trying to see if we can't bump that up to February. Fingers crossed! We know how frustrated everyone is waiting for this. (We got pretty frustrated too.)
We do not have anything to do with the Kickstarter. If you want a refund you still must go to Justyna directly.
Oh, I didn't know this has gone through all these troubles. I didn't preorder or back it, so I wasn't worried about money, but this is one of the projects I was really hyped about, so I'm happy it won't abandonned.
I WILL be honest, I'm not a huge fan of your own games - but that's simply because they don't suit my personal tastes - what I like, is how professional you are and how well you deliver what you do. So I'm quite stoked you'll be working on it, with the orignal dev's scripts and linearts and stuff.

I dont know much but the original creator has been very sick and the game was going to be taken over by Y games. Sadly idk if either group has kept this updated or been keeping track of the game. I actually was super exited to pre order it until i noticed how long its been since updates or interactions.
tldr; y press (to trust an incubus, morningdew farms) is taking over the project and justyna/lazuli is still on board as the writer. there is no set schedule due to serious health issues mentioned in the post, but ST will be completed :D
I hope you feel better and I hope you will be able find someone to take over, This is a really good game and it would be a shame that it would go to waist. Good luck and be well <3

That that path you're quoting up there appears to be to your PCs desktop not to the game folder.

Y Press Games took over this game on the condition that Justyna would finish writing the script and provide all line art. We finally got these materials on December 31st, 2020. We now have what we need to finish making the game for her.
We're working hard on getting it out as soon as possible. Our firm date is June of this year, though we're trying to see if we can't bump that up to February. Fingers crossed! We know how frustrated everyone is waiting for this. (We got pretty frustrated too.)
We do not have anything to do with the Kickstarter. If you want a refund you still must go to Justyna directly.
Oh, I didn't know this has gone through all these troubles. I didn't preorder or back it, so I wasn't worried about money, but this is one of the projects I was really hyped about, so I'm happy it won't abandonned.
I WILL be honest, I'm not a huge fan of your own games - but that's simply because they don't suit my personal tastes - what I like, is how professional you are and how well you deliver what you do. So I'm quite stoked you'll be working on it, with the orignal dev's scripts and linearts and stuff.

I dont know much but the original creator has been very sick and the game was going to be taken over by Y games. Sadly idk if either group has kept this updated or been keeping track of the game. I actually was super exited to pre order it until i noticed how long its been since updates or interactions.
Will the game still be launched on steam?

tldr; y press (to trust an incubus, morningdew farms) is taking over the project and justyna/lazuli is still on board as the writer. there is no set schedule due to serious health issues mentioned in the post, but ST will be completed :D
I do like Y Press games (I have Morningdew Farms and To Trust an Incubus). Just download the demo and will see if I want this game as well

I've sent 2 emails over a month ago and haven't gotten answers. Shame, I was really excited about the game. I didn't even want my money back necessarily, I just wanted to know if they expected the game to ever be finished. Now it just feels like my money was stolen.
Same. At least if you're going to take someones money, don't day you're going to refund it and then not follow through
